About Jakhoo Temple Shimla

Jakhu or Jakhoo Temple Shimla is a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman or Bajrangbali. It is located in Shimla’s highest mountain, the Jakhu Hills. It is one of the tallest statues in the world, rising almost 8000 feet above sea level. Since it is a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman, monkeys can be found all over the place. A festival is celebrated in this temple during Dussehra. Numerous worshippers come to this temple to receive Lord Hanuman’s blessings. Beautiful deodar trees and good weather surround this shrine.

History

About its history, it is thought that during the Ramayana, Lord Hanuman stopped here to rest while looking for sanjeevani booti to heal Lord Laxman, who was hurt during the battle. Furthermore, this location is where Lord Hanuman’s footprints can be found. The statue surpasses the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, which is around 98 feet tall, by 108 feet or 33 metres. Its production cost is approximately 1.5 crore Indian Rupees. At Shimla’s Jakhoo Temple, the highest statue of Lord Hanuman was unveiled in 2010.

How To Reach Jakhoo Temple

This temple is easily accessible to everyone via cab, ropeway, or on foot through the ridge. The distance from the ridge to Jakhoo Temple Shimla is around 2 km. There is no entry fee.
