The starting point of this trek is at Gallu Devi Temple, near Dharamkot. But one can also do trekking from Bhagsu. So, basically, there are two points from where it’s trekking can be done. After reaching McLeod Ganj you can take a taxi to reach the starting point of the Triund trek near Gallu Devi Temple. The charges of Taxi are around Rs 500. But you can also visit Gallu Devi Temple (starting point of Triund Trek) by walking also. The distance of the starting point of the Triund trek from McLeod Ganj is around 2 km.

The midpoint of this trek is at Magic View Cafe. One can easily find water and other eatables there. And also at the top of Triund, there is also an eating point. In winters you will find snow everywhere on the mountains and that view is just wonderful. And if you want to spend a night at the top with your friends or family you can do so by camping at the top.

How One Can Reach Triund

If You AreTraveling by Road:

If you are traveling by road then you can reach McLeod Ganj in approx. 6 hrs, if you are starting your journey from Chandigarh. The distance from Chandigarh to McLeod Ganj is around 250 km. You can also take a taxi or bus as per your convenience. You will get various buses from Chandigarh to Dharamshala or Kangra, thereafter you can take a local bus from Dharamshala to McLeodganj. The distance from Dharamshala to McLeod Ganj is around 8 km. And after that, you can start your Triund Trek by reaching the starting point.

If You Are Traveling by Air:

If you are traveling by air then you can take a flight from Delhi, Chandigarh, or from where you live. Or, you can take a flight from Chandigarh to Gaggal Airport, Kangra (HP). After reaching Gaggal Airport, you can reach Mcleodganj which is around 18 km from Kangra. After that, you can start your Triund Trek by reaching the starting point.

  1. After reaching the starting point you have to take a guide and the charges for the guide are around Rs 1500 for one group.
  2. Must wear the best quality trekking shoes which are also waterproof. But if you are not wearing trekking shoes, you can take them on rent from a shop near starting point at around Rs 200.
  3. Avoid carrying heavy backpacks, just take the things which are necessary like water, eatables and other stuff.
  4. You can also carry sunglasses.
  5. Carry your own eatables as it is too much costly at the top
  6. You have to start this trek in the morning, after that they don’t allow you to go if you are not spending a night at the top. 
  7. Carry an umbrella because the weather may change at any time.
  8. You can also get a stick for trekking at around Rs 10-20.
  9. Must carry a carry bag so that you can put the waste (wrappers etc) in that.
